N - CAF FOUDATION # # RUDEGAL HISTORY # #
DETAILED HISTORY RudeGal was exposed to Dancehall Reggae the last year of High School and fell in love with the pulsating beats. It wasn't for a few years later, when hearing Buju Banton's then older song "STAMINA DADDY" did the passion for the genre cement. Initially, RudeGal started off hosting and producing a Dancehall Reggae radio program with the goal of having a syndicated National (USA) program to introduce America to the artist's and music. RudeGal started hosting a radio program with friend Shannon Riley who was attending KCSB. Commuting over 2.5 hours every Friday evening to host a 3 hour late night show and drive back to LA for Saturday classes at college, RudeGal sought a more local community radio outlet and landed her own show on KCLA and KLAS. While volunteering for the local "What About The Children" non-profit organization, RudeGal was introduced to the Southern California based REGGAE NUCLEUS monthly magazine. Initially developing a column titled "From Da Yard" covering Dancehall Reggae - hot new riddims released, artist hit songs and news, events and upcoming shows in Los Angeles, this begin the forte into press. The column "FROM DA YARD" was featured in several publications worldwide in: England, South Africa, Puerto Rico and throughout the US. This lead to reviews of releases, albums and artist interviews. The column "FROM DA YARD" was initially housed on one of the pioneering Dancehall Reggae websites - www.DancehallMinded.com until a request from a promoter who booked an artist through RudeGal asked for the event to be posted and promoted online. Thus; www.rudegal.com was born prematurely. Quickly the site began to update weekly with the column, artist interviews, bio's of artists, bio's of soundmen, events locally, nationally and internationally and more. The website and content was produced, updated and managed by RudeGal, literarily going back to CSUN to get a certificate in Web Development in order to do so. RudeGal launched the first ever eBlast system of publicity for the website promoting Dancehall Reggae and the music released by artists managed and booked. This was BEFORE eBlasts began to be used by Major Labels in America or services used to disseminate mainstream music being promoted. A business model credited by Headline Agency as the bases of their business structure and several Dancehall Reggae websites that have launched since. Once RudeGal began to shift into Artist Management; handling all aspects from A&R, imagery, styling, photoshoot's, videoshoots, marketing, radio promotions and press the website became less of a focus dwindling down to a monthly update.

NOW...... RudeGal initially started working promoting her passion while working a full time job, even with the launch of RudeGal Entertainment. While RudeGal Entertainment was the sole focus from 2005-2012, since then I've been selling LUXURY Real Estate. I was initially accepted to M.I.T.'s School of Architecture but choose to go to FIDM for their Interior Design/Architecture program. Later transferring to CSUN for Finance and Marketing. In the last 5 years, I've achieved the Top 1% of Realtor's Nationwide. There's lots of content in the vault between interviews unreleased, raw interview audio (podcast coming?), video interviews and articles never published on RudeGal.com. Perhaps one of these days I will look into relaunching the website in full; maybe overseeing interns or the next generation of promising talent with a passion for this genre. IF you truly miss it and would like to see a return, email me at: rudegal@rudegal.com - tell me what you miss.
